I actually got to garden today. Watch the slideshow because pictures are worth more than words!
This weekend Chris took the minty elixir of death and was able to cast off the Ukranian Digger Wasp with one fell swoop of spray! Gone for good I hope!
I've carefully treaded my way to the side yard a couple times since then, and was mighty surprised to not be met with a aerial buzzing show of this thing flying around my head, no doubt telling me I was getting too close to its territory.
So I took FULL advantage of its absence tonight. And I've realized it has been a good 2 months since I've really gardened. Perhaps that's why I have blogged so much? I am the happiest person alive tonight! It was such sweet relief. I have been telling Chris I'm depressed and I just want to "do something" in the backyard. Yay!
We ripped out the squash a couple weeks ago after realizing it was absolutely infested with whiteflies/flea beetles and was only acting as a food source for them. So tonight, I pushed away the redwood bark mulch and went to planting seeds around the soaker hose!
Spinach 'Bloomsdale Long Standing'
Lettuce 'Buttercrunch'
Carrot 'Scarlet Nantes'
Radish 'Petit Dejeuner' (French Breakfast)
I also cleaned up some of the dead watermelon foliage and marigolds. I poked large sticks into what I thought might be holes for that big thing, to kill anything inside them.
I guess I didn't really do all that much, but I feel so good right now I just wanted to share!
