Collateral storm damage

lime tree, originally uploaded by gardenpunk.

We have had 3 storms this year with winds of 40 mph or more. Tonight another one came crashing through when Chris realized we left the lime tree outside!

We've been religiously putting this little guy out of the garage to get sunshine and pollinators a few days a week, and we usually remember to bring it back in at dusk. We put it put Saturday when we had beautiful weather. We forgot to bring it inside Saturday night (first oops), and then left it out in the wind and rain all day (second oops).

I wish I had a before picture, because it had a third more leaves than it does now. Some of them are ripped to shreds now too!

Chris says the upside is that we would have had to thin the fruit because it fruited really heavily this year. Because we've been taking great care of it. It was such a beautiful tree too!

I'm sad because I'm attached to this plant. We've babied it along for 2 or 3 years now, and each year we goof up and it suffers.

Bad plant parents!

I need to address the NON-ORGANIC items in the picture (right side). I used these at our old house 3 years ago and haven't used them since (and especially not at the new house). Our city has a hazardous waste pickup, and I always forget to put these items out for collection. FYI. I am committed to organic gardening!
