Storm pics at the end.
California had 2 hellacious storms roll through last night and today, and it's not over yet. They expect at least one more to come through tomorrow!
Yesterday around 2pm, it began raining hard and became blustery. The rain ended by rush hour, but the wind remained.
This morning when our fan timer turned off at 5am, I had to turn it back on to drown out the noise of the wind.
The wind!
Today we enjoyed sustained winds in the high 40mph range and gusts into the 60mph range. And heavy rain ALL day. We were pretty unscathed thankfully (I sat at work all day and hoped our fences and trees made out ok). We're thankful for the rain, but the damage is pretty significant everywhere as I browsed pictures on my local news site.
It's quiet now, and I was able to snap a few pictures of the damage at my house and on my street.
My neighbors lost their tree
This small tree in our backyard may or may not be a goner

We definitely need something to cover the mud between our South Raised Beds. Straw? Aggregate? I dunno.
Our collateral damage - 2 pots were knocked over. Easily rectified once there's no more wind.
Our garbage can and green waste bin (full of pepper plants) that we put out for today's collection ended up in front of my neighbor's driveway when I came home for lunch. The green waste bin spilled its contents on the street and I scooped them up and put it all back in. But it was full when we put it out, and somehow the bin is only 1/2 full now. Sorry neighbors! The rest must have blown away, but I couldn't see it anywhere.
Maintenance at work had to come over to my neighbor's cube to put up buckets to catch all the water. While he had his head in the ceiling, I snapped a picture with my camera phone! By the time I left, there was all kinds of water rings on the ceiling near and around our cubes. Drip drip!
The next wave shouldn't bring nearly the wind as these two. Thank goodness!
