A while back there was a thread out there about how people find your blog based on their internet searches. And sure enough, as I wrote this today Chile posted a blog about how someone found her using a very interesting search phrase…
I have been keeping track of my site visits for a while by using StatCounter.com (which is FREE!), and a recent search made me laugh so hard, I figured I would share a few of the more popular searches that land on my site.
Apparently, people are very interested in:
Reading reviews of shweat scoop cat littler prior to buying it
- Ammonia cat litter
- Prego ladies
Figuring out what to do with old satellite dishes (lots and lots and lots of hits from my post about turning ours into a birdbath)
- What to do with old satellite dish
- Bird safe paint
MyFolia.com (if you do a Google search, my site comes up before the actual MyFolia site! NPR’s Garden Blog linked to my site when this was my main post and I got a ton of traffic from it. So my page rank rose because of it. The internet works in mysterious ways…)
Organic black widow control
I get a lot of hits relating to specific searches of fruit varieties that I posted about in my Backyard Orchard post
----------------------------------
And now on to the funny searches
Lots of people are interested in dog poop because of my posts about what’s in my garbage can, as well as the related topic of environmentally friendly carpet cleaning (think dog poop)
- Poop in garbage can
- Does dog poop go in garbage can for recycling
- Removing dog poo from carpet
- Environmentally safe carpet cleaning
- Carpet cleaning safe for kids
Lots of people are interested in yurts...
- Underground yurt
- Sierra foothills yurt
And the award for the funniest search ever to grace GardenPunks.com is:
"pimp yurts"
This is in reference to my quote from this post,
“There are all kinds of options and ways to "pimp" out a yurt.”
We were howling at that one last night. Why someone would search pimp yurt, I have no idea. Perhaps they were looking for my post about pimping out a yurt.
Here are some other random searches as of late:
- Weird environmentally friendly gifts
- Reusable grocery bags
- Clementine trees for northern California
- Hand trigger shower garden
- Mini pickaxe tool
- How to fence vine wire trellis
- Garage cabinets northern California
- Composite 4x6 trex price
- Gluten free pumpkin
- Landscaping a suburban sideyard
- Keep the dog from digging irrigation pipes
- Seed starting calendar
Since funny searches come through every so often, I think this may turn into a semi-recurring post.
Anyone have any funny searches to share from recent search stats?
