What's in your garbage? Part Two

garbage can sans plastic sack, originally uploaded by gardenpunk.

This is our garbage can. Notice anything? No sack!

I was out lurking, commenting, and reading all of your blogs yesterday when I came across someone who asked a blogger what they do about not having plastic sacks to use in their garbage can.

Easy answer: Have a dirty garbage can.

We wash ours a few times a year when it gets really icky, or just leave it out in the rain. We leave it outside if it smells for a little while, and it airs out quickly.

And we really don't throw a whole lot away. At least 90%+ of our waste is compostable or recyclable. We might fill our 60 gallon trash can up fully 4-6 times per year (working on that number too!).

I would have taken a closer picture, but some might have considered that kinda gross.
