Tonight Chris and I wanted to ride down to the bike store about a mile from here to get some bike locks and bike lights for safe riding in the early morning to work. I checked today, and their website said they were open until 7. Leaving at 6 would give us plenty of time to check out their stuff, and talk with the hilarious employees (the one who fitted me for my helmet had a sense of humor which mirrored mine, so it was fun to talk).
Unless they close at 6 and their website was wrong.
Bummer!
Chris: "Dude, they're closed."
Me: "Oh, uh, those hours aren't what the website said"
Chris: "What do you want to do now?"
Me: "I dunno. Why don't we make the practice ride to work?"
So off we went. I always wondered why you never see a lot of bikers on the roads in the bike lanes, but it's because Folsom's bike trails are amazing! There's bike-sized underpasses under many large roads, and we only have to cross one real large road (in a crosswalk) to get to work, which is really amazing.
The "real" ride home took about 30 minutes, and we had to make a couple small stops, and that's counting a slight detour. So not bad, considering it usually takes 10 minutes to drive. And the scenery is amazing. The city planners really did a great job with the trails and their situation.
So Monday, Chris and I will ride our bikes to work (we will make a trip to the bike store on our way back from morning errands tomorrow morning and pick up the items we wanted to get today).
Did I mention that I mapped this route when I got home, and we biked over 10 miles?
That's awesome! But I don't know if my legs will allow me to walk tomorrow...
