Biking to Work: Day 1

Alternate title for picture: the gun show. Ha!

So today was day one of riding our bikes to work. I will have to make sure and get up just a wee bit earlier. We left around 6:25am (got up at 6:02am, showered, dressed, and dried my hair, thank you). We got to Chris' work within 20 minutes, and I was at work in another 10. Five minutes early at 6:55am (for the first time in months!)

It was about 40o this morning when we left, so while not bone chilling, but a wee bit cold on the exposed knuckles and fingers. My thighs and feet were also cold. I think tomorrow I will wear my wool socks and jeans to combat that.

We are headed to REI tonight to pick up a few bicycling items: a new headlight for Chris, a thermos for his chai tea, and gloves for both of us!

REI you ask? Anyone who has been there knows that it barely qualifies as a big box store - they treat their employees well, it is technically a co-op, and they are good to the local economy. I love REI and have since I was a child. Plus, they carry Life is Good gear. Who can argue against that?

And the picture is me after our ride home this afternoon. It's a wonderful 78o, but having a backpack strapped to your back for 30 minutes while pedaling furiously is hard work, as evidenced.

So far: a success! I was like a kid on Christmas Eve last night. Can't wait to do it again tomorrow.
