Oh, how I aspire to be more like you

The Dervaes family of Pasadena California are a model of what Urban Homesteading should look like. (You may know them better as the Path to Freedom folks.)

Anyhow, cool video here from their writeup in the New York Times green edition just in time for Earth Day (Tuesday 4/22/08).

Anais' comment towards the end was very telling:

"People are starting to see that green is smart. Green makes sense. It's interesting to see the evolution of ... before you were strange and now you're hip."

What these folks are doing is truly inspiring, and I hope that we can capture some of the lightning that they have created.
