How many fires?

On Saturday I put the following message on Twitter/Facebook/Plurk via Ping.fm:

Might we get thunderstorms today? Oh god I hope so!

Well, the area did get thunderstorms (not us though).

No rain + Cumulus clouds + lightning = fires.

Be careful what you wish for. I saw it reported that there was initially 400-500 fires in the Sierras and Northern California, mostly because of lightning.

And the joy of smoke in the valley.
