So yes, three days in a row with posts about dead bugs. Sue me.
Last year I had a problem with ground wasps. I thought I had at one point identified what they were, but I was wrong. Because today I found one's burrow, sprayed my minty elixir of death, and behold, was able to retrieve a fine specimen for my research.
Sorry for the bad picture, bad light, no macro lens.
And yes, it has a radical stinger that I don't want to meet.
I had to wash this one for the picture because it was all minty muddy, and I had the heebie jeebies taking its picture because I expected it to jump up back to life and get revenge.
But seriously, what kind of bug is this? I was overrun by these last year, and I don't want it to happen again this year and keep me out of the garden.
Now if you don't mind, I'm going to put this guy in a jar in the freezer so Chris can see it when he gets home. Just like I did the cockroach at the old house.
