One thing I never knew about was how laundry softener/softener sheets worked.
Our first few rounds of hanging up clothes on the clothesline were dried damp with our dryer (yeah, that doesn't make sense to me either. I was a little worried about the weight of all of the clothes on the line, so I figured it they were sort of dry it might help).
Anyhow, when we partially dried them, we used a fabric softener sheet, so they were nice and soft. Business as usual, as I say.
Then we washed towels and ONLY hung them out on the line to dry. It was pretty hilarous how stiff they got. I could hardly fold them. Unpleasant to say the least - they got rewashed with some fabric softener from Seventh Generation. I'm a pretty big fan of their products, and they have a really great email newsletter every so often that I ACTUALLY read, unlike most of the spammy email crap that comes my way.
I never knew the reason behind fabric softener. I guess it makes sense now that I've had the crunchy towel experience.
Life is a interesting teacher. You take the test before you learn the lesson!
You know, if we were meant to walk around naked, we would have been born that way.
