Thievery

Something ate some of my seeds. Turkey? Raccoon? I haven't any idea. Please identify this poop for me, and then we'll all know.

Thief

Scene of the crime:

I planted the fava beans in small pots lined up against my fence where they could climb up the trellis apparatus we built with wire... I will give you a moment to go check out that old post... I'm waiting...

I planted most of the beds with a fall/winter crop of different vegetables, and thank goodness whatever pilfered my fava beans is leaving the beds alone.

Thief

Thief

Jerk left all the pots askew too. I am going to have to restart the seeds in the pots on top of my glass top table in the backyard, and away from the beds.

So, what do you think it was?

Can't tell from looking at it. Isn't there a CSI Folsom team that can analyze the sample for DNA tags or something?

I know there are scat experts but not me! Sorry they messed with your plantings!

Looks like coon. Should smell pretty foul too. Turkey should have a more bird like quality, a bit wetter, less defined.

I agree with Alan... it's not bird style.

I'd guess skunk or coon too. That's just crappy! Maybe you need a game tracker camera for your plants.

Last spring I experienced a similar phenomena on a smaller scale but I think it was squirrels. Raccoons would make sense in your area.

That is raccoon poop! I've seen it a million times around our place. They are destructive critters! Keep the lids on your trash strapped down tight or they'll be into that next.

Sorry you lost your seeds to the party poopers! Squirrels dug up my salad green seeds and now it's probably too cold to re-plant them. Ugh, critters! Maybe chicken wire over the pots next time??

jim - Haha. I do think that the Police probably don't have much else going on in this area...

gail - Looks like others ID'd it as raccoon! Drats.

alan - That's what I was afraid of. I know turkey, but this one was different. I was just hoping it wasn't raccoon. Drats.

natalie - Yep, it's raccoon. I found footprints in the bark on the other side leading to the fence where they climbed over.

amorris - I half thought about setting up the video camera, but that would be too much work for 6 fava beans.

notsocrafty - Amazingly, we don't have squirrels in this neighborhood. Not enough oaks I guess.

hippie girl - Thanks for the ID. I was hoping it wasn't raccoon. Drats. We have large plastic cans with heavy lids. I doubt it will be a problem, thankfully. Plus all they'd get it cat/dog poop anyway! hahahaha. And our compost bin has a locking lid too.

karen - we have some leftover screen from when we built dryers for the tomatoes this summer. I think I will try that over the pots and locate them up on a table near the house. Hopefully that will dissuade them from eating 'em.

nawlins dawlin - It's raccoon poop. Come to think of it, I tend to post about poop here quite a bit! Thanks for stopping by.
