Our salad greens are really enjoying the nice weather. Until I met Chris, I called salad greens "rabbit food". While I am not a huge fan of strong tasting greens, I want to live a long time so they will be part of my diet.
Plus, they're pretty in the garden.

Those salad greens bring out the rabbit in me. They look yummy and pretty.
Wow. Those are really, really beautiful.
My first time growing Mesclun and I love it! Nice and tasty, easy to grow, and best of all cut it and it grows back! Whoohoo!
and I am now green with envy! My winter greens were enjoyed by four legged critters this year. But I like the range of colors and textures in your mix.
Wow, they look great - we never got around to putting winter salad greens in this year, and now I'm totally envious
I am envious, the only color in my neck of the woods is white and brown.
I would love a bowl of that salad.
Is this a pic of YOUR greens?! Wow. I've been wanting to grow a small kitchen garden, but I'm afraid I might not have enough sunlight. :( But your picture makes me want to give it a go!!
chigiy - Yes, I used to refer to all salad as rabbit food!
The Forge Village Farmer - They were sparkling in the sun the other day. The shot was lucky!
Di Hickman - Self renewing salad, you can't beat that!
Notsocrafty - Dang mice. Hoping our neighbor's rats don't make it down here...
The Allotment Blogger - I am glad we did put in a winter garden, although it is growing quite slowly.
spelled with a k - Yuck. I could never live where it snows. Soon enough, Spring will be here. And then you'll have the sunroom this time next year!
~G - The worst that could happen is that the garden doesn't thrive, but at least you can then say you tried!
I had a bowl of these for lunch today!
Those salad greens look fabulous to me. A good homemade vinaigrette will turn a salad hater into a salad lover, ya know.
Can I ask where you got that salad green mix?
Robin Wedewer
Robin - There are a few mixes here: (1) Green & Red Romaines: Renee's Cesar Duo, (2) Mesclun Spicy Mix, (3) Signature Salads: California Spicy Greens (which I believe includes greens from a couple other packets that we combined, mustard perhaps?). All available from Peaceful Valley Farm & Garden Supply.
Oh my holy hell I am jealous of that! Right now we are lucky to get an egg every two days from our stead.
Andy doesn't like greens but I LOVE them. Seems to be the norm with couples....
They look just beautiful to me! Only a cold, hard tundra here! Embrace the greens!
What a fantastic photo! all the colours are so right. I always buy packets of that Mesclun mix when I come to the USA - just perfect!
That's funny about 'rabbit food'. When all the cool (expensive) lettuces started showing up on the market, my hubby was at a work related dinner. One of his co-workers mentioned how amazed he was that folks were paying $8 a pound for stuff that looks like weeds his momma used to make him pull in the garden.
Your weeds look delicious!
ah,yes, I see mustard and kale and mizuna...all the makings of a zesty salad
